Limited-Edition Silk Screen on Canvas Clutches

 

As an art historian and former professor, Beth's early years were heavly rooted in printmaking and graphic design. Wanting to revisit those nostalgic years in a new light, she decided to produce limited-edition, numbered pieces of some of her original designs. This production line of clutches will offer multiple copies of a single or unique graphic design or image from her catalogue of works. They are offered in the same light as a print on paper, numbered, and always part of a limited-edition "run."

 

Those of you who have followed the Art Canvas line from inception are aware that each bag is an original work-of-art, created from an acrylic painting, and adorned with one-of-a-kind hardware or embellishments. Those high-end clutches will always remain "one-offs” only, meaning no design will ever be repeated. This new line of production pieces however, embraces each work as “printed piece.” 

 

Prints are found throughout the history of art, one of the main reasons for the development of printmaking was the desire of artists to make more money from their work by selling multiple copies; clearly printmaking satisfies this motive. Beth has a different take. She is less concerned about the bottom line and more interested in offering up a unique work of utilitarian art by making it more affordable to a greater number of individuals that would like to enjoy her fashionable, high-quality designs.
